How to lead a Godly life and lead like Jesus did with humility.
Leaders, we have them everywhere and anywhere from small groups to giant corporations to countries and kingdoms in this world. Most people want some form of control over people or want to lead people in what they do and how they do it. Most of the time it’s with the wrong intentions either stemming from controlling people or as small as the extra money with the job promotion you had gotten. Some people also see it’s a competition to show that they are better than others and will lord it over those beneath them. Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior was and is a leader today and back when he was alive, he had the proper and the most correct intentions for his leadership. Through him, we are shown what a proper and Godly leader ought to be and ought to do in order to be fair, just, and have Godly favor while giving God glory. He didn’t have it easy, and no proper and Godly leader will ever have it easy, however he made it work in his favor and for our favor in his sacrifice for us to live with him and The Father eternally.
Becoming a leader in anyway doesn’t mean you will have an easier life, if anything your life will become more difficult as you lead in a Godly way. This can happen from persecutions at work, to the tasks that pile up, to helping your subordinates be able to do their job effectively and possibly help them spiritually. When these things happen to us, we must till worship and pray to God knowing that he is in control and despite our situation he will see us through it. The first way of this to demonstrate our love for God and how much we appreciate all that he has done for us. You might say that’s hard with your current circumstances and that might be true, in which case try your hardest to put aside your issues and give them to him. Do not let anything separate you from God in order to feel better, bring these issues to him and he will relieve you of your stress and worry from them as you still praise and worship even at your lowest. In this Godly leadership, praying should be our first priority for any and all reasons, from just expressing gratitude and thanksgiving to asking for wisdom for a specific situation that you are now responsible for. Either way, find time in a quite and secluded environment and invite him into your space and allow his love and wisdom to flow to you. Countless times we are told that Jesus withdrew from the crowds, his disciples, and from his responsibilities in order to go to His Father, our Father, and ask him for guidance and give thanks in the way of prayer.
Doing this will help you to seek out his Kingdom and his spiritual power and wisdom and spread it to those whom you have influence over. So many times, leaders that are part of the world seek the world’s power and wisdom ruining their relationships with co-workers and so on. It can be easy and tempting to fall for such power as we see what the world promises and what the enemy entices us to do in order to obtain it. As leaders, we will face many issues during our leadership and we need that spiritual power in order to combat it with wisdom and strength from God and God alone. One strength that we must have and pray for constantly is the courage to confront people in a respectful, humble, and wise way. Doing so can show what kind of leader we are to those around us while calming down a situation and bringing the necessary wisdom in order to solve it.
Jesus demonstrated such courage when he went to the temple where they were selling and trading in its courts for sacrifice offerings. Confronting people and things at the proper time will lead to the needed result for it to be resolved, not confronting at the right time or wisely or not confronting at all can have disastrous results. When confronting these issue, never lord your rank and position over people and say they have to do it because you said so. Confront them with the gentleness and humility that Jesus had when he was here leading people. Let your word speak for itself because of the kind of Godly person you are, not having to make empty threats or be condescending to those who you are confronting. Be gentle and kind to them and know that they are only human as well and have their own opinions and thoughts as well to what should and should not be done. Also recognize they too as one of God’s children and just as our parents tell us on earth “Don’t fight your siblings”.
Do this and lead without arrogance and letting your position get the best of your ego, remember who allowed you to excel to that position. Stay focused as to why he might have had put you there, if its to help those you are in charge of or to also being them to him. As leaders in some way you are responsible for preparing the family members and house in order for Jesus’ return as our Lord and Savior once more in his second coming. Always face issues and persecution knowing that “In the end [my redeemer] will stand on upon the earth”. It may seem like God is allowing the godless to prosper, remember though, in the end his justice is something no one can avoid. Help those under you if they are struggling, remain humble regardless of your rank or title, and still pray regardless of your situation. God will make it make sense one day at a time. Give him your love and trust knowing that he will lead you properly and know everything will be Okay, Amen!!!!
