This was supposed to be a Word document and basically a mini-essay type thing, then I believe I have a God-given thought to see if I could make it a post series like I was doing with the Ride series. This is going to be an interesting thing. It’s something newish for me, I am used to doing the posts here, and not really a discussion, user-involved type of content. This is my take on a lot of things that I have and am currently experiencing with my walk with God. I am logging it here for whoever may want to look, comment, and share as well. Without further ado, here is the first post. Any external links and citations will be listed below.
Philosophy, what exactly is this word and the its meaning? It uses different types of thinking to achieve its main purpose, so let’s look at that. The definition, as defined by Merriam Webster, Philosophy is:
a: pursuit of wisdom.
b: a search for a general understanding of values and reality by chiefly speculative rather than observational means.
c: an analysis of the grounds of and concepts expressing fundamental beliefs.
(Merriam Webster, n.d.).
I am going to write, basically, probably, an informal essay on what I have experienced and what I think will help others to read the word of God better, and what questions I ask myself all the time. This is by NO means meant to be the professional, sole way of learning God’s word, or to be taken as the only way to read or decipher any of the text you read. First, I will delve into some abstract thinking to better explain and help others understand my thoughts. The art of abstract thinking implies thinking outside of the normal realm of thinking, thinking more outside of the physical and more in the creative mind, and can be Spiritual. Abstract thinking is what drives the philosophy we hear about and can lead to creative thinking to compare ideas, themes, and texts of the bible. Philosophy and abstraction together form a type of relationship where we allow our minds to flow into other realms for good or for bad. In this, I want to study the realm of the spiritual and how that can help us to grow closer to God and what he wants from us to advance His Kingdom.
We will start from where the bible starts, in the very beginning when God created time and everything in the universe. Right there, we can stop and look at that, we can ask, what is time to God? We read numerous times throughout the bible that he is above all and is timeless throughout, and with this, he isn’t confined by time. It’s almost like, to me at least, that we are in like a fishbowl with time running by and then the universe containing us with God, right there, containing everything else. Yes, without him, we are literally nothing, and with this, we must think outside of the realm of the physical already. It says that God created everything in 6 days, and for the longest time, I thought that was 6 of our days, 24-hour days. I read something where someone said that both the 6 days and the belief of the earth being millions and billions of years old can be true; we do not know “how long” each day technically was to God. Through all of this, though, we still see how God was intimately involved in every little thing that happened. My mind tends to lead me to ways to try to figure out how he did this, and then if any of it is in some weird automation. Does anyone else’s mind do this as well? Like mine wants to question everything and anything, and I know it’s for a reason, and that God will get me through it. Anyway, this is where I will end it for now, just a nice little introduction, any recommendations and comments are welcome.
