How to keep our hearts healthy and clean in order to stay Holy for God.
Heart health is promoted everywhere form what not to do to what to take in order to keep your heart healthy for anything that may happen. We are told to stay fit and active, not smoke, eat low cholesterol food, and numerous other things in order to keep our hearts healthy. This does lead to a longer live, feeling better, and having more energy as it is easier for our hearts to pump blood through the 60,000 miles of veins in our bodies. The heart isn’t like a kidney to where we can live without one of them, we only have one and need it in order to live the life God has for us. In order to keep our spiritual hearts healthy, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior gave us key instructions on how to do so. All of these are to ensure a life fulfilling to what God has called us to do in order to help the Kingdom of God grow more and more each day.
We are told and instructed to guard our hearts from numerous things from what we consume from hearing, watching, and converse about on a regular basis. Not watching what we do can lead to a heart that is ill and sick, growing cold toward God as we disregard his ways for our own ways. In order to prevent illness from seeping in our hearts from the outside world, we must keep them focused on Jesus and loving him entirely with them. Doing this invites him in, giving him permission to renew our hearts to handle the stresses of life that we will encounter and yet still trust him in the storms. Staying focused on him is how we fight off the world’s temptations of adultery, lust, sexual perversions, and so on; ensuring we focus on him is how we avoid falling into such traps. Focusing our heart on God includes humbling ourselves and reminding ourselves that we are submissive to his authority and yet remind ourselves of his love for us daily and continually. It also means to not do things for the outward appearance and what you look like to the world, do it for the inward appearance of your heart.
We are to give out of our heart, and if our heart is full of joy and love, we will give with the joy and love that will overflow from within. This is done by giving without resentment, regret, or expecting payback in the end, do not give with the mind of hatred or resentment as well. We are to give with a loving heart, not caring what the world will think; we are shown this with the widow who gave less than a cent worth for the church. God doesn’t care about how much you give, he cares about how you give, this widow gave less than a cent, yet it was all she had left from her poverty. The rich will give from wealth, and that’s not bad if it is from their heart and not for their outward looks to the rest of the world. Giving what we have and how our hearts are positioned are just one of many ways we show Jesus our love for him, from obeying, to giving, to helping those in need as well.
Doing all of these will help us keep our hearts holy and clean for God to use them for his Kingdom’s growth. On top of that, we are too love each other as we love ourselves, and before that love God above all else. Keep this simple commandment is how we become transformed into who God needs us to be. Love God and then love people, God will then take care of the rest of your heart in order to help you with the remaining four factors and many more. Submit to him and allow him to take care of you and watch as he transforms your life. May God keep you and bless you for the rest of your life, Amen!
