How our ongoing relationship with God should be and how to help ourselves talk to him
Our relationships that we have in life help us through life when it gets down and sad and make its enjoyable when life is happy and fun. We need relationships in order to thrive since we were created to be social beings with each other and rely on interactions. God made us to rely on community with each other for help, life, and for mental health reasons in order to experience the life he has for us. One relationship that we need to ensure is always proper is our relationship with God himself. If we do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, we cannot live the fulfilled life that God wants us to live. It doesn’t matter how many ‘friends’ you have or how much money you obtain if you cannot focus on having meaningful friendships and relationships with people and especially God himself.
One way to better our relationship with God, and any relationship, is through communicating with him on a regular basis. We do this simply through prayer, praying to him and thanking him for what he has done, and he is has planned for us and our lives in the future that we have yet to see. It is written and we are promised that ‘No eyes have, nor ears have heard what The Lord our God has in store for you’. We can be confident that through praying and seeking God, that he will answer the prayers that we have sent him in due time in accordance with his will. Getting into a habit of prayer is how we bring to God our petition, thanks, worship, praise, and asking for forgiveness from the sins we have committed. We can do this through going to through Jesus who died for us instead of having to go through a high priest as they had to before he died for us on the cross.
When we pray, we must pray with the faith that God has heard our prayers and that he will answer them in due timing when it is time. We are shown that praying in faith does more than we can imagine, often times God will do more than what we prayed for if we just have that faith in us. We are told and promised through Jesus, that if we pray with faith the size of a mustard seed, we ask tell mountains to move and they will. This is again in God’s timing and by his means, it may not happen immediately, however, it will happen by his means and timing. It can days, weeks, months, and may be years little by little, it will happen though and yet we can so often get so discouraged so quick because we want instant results. God normally doesn’t do things instantly; we have to be patient and wait on him to give us the go ahead when it comes to things we pray for.
There are numerous ways to pray and numerous scripts in the bible on what to pray for when and where, ultimately though, it comes down to your heart. When praying, God wants to hear what is weighing on our hearts and soul, yes, the scripted prayers for certain times are good when there is nothing you can think of. If there is something on our souls and hearts weighing us down that gets neglected to be announced in prayer, it can damage us internally. Whether it be unforgiveness, sadness, depression, anxiety, and so on, God wants to take that from us only if we let him and announce to him. He wants us to see his love for us in order to then experience the life and love he has planned for us when we keep pushing, so when praying, express to God what is happening and what you are feeling, he can already see it. Doing this shows God that you trust him with your emotions, vulnerabilities, and that you know he can make it all better. Allow him to heal the wounds, yes it may hurt when they are healing, however, once healed they will not hurt you anymore.
Through prayer and petition, allow Jesus to be your healer, Savior, and Father, giving your mind, soul, and heart to him in order to heal you. It might be easier to conceal a wound and just not pray anymore about it or a certain subject, that isn’t what he wants though. Have faith that what you prayed for has been heard and will be answered in due time, waiting for your results with a faithful and positive expective attitude. Remember, God wants to help us and that we are not our own responsibility to transform ourselves. We give God ourselves to transform us into the people he needs us to be, so allow him to help you produce fruit and not just leaves like the fig tree. Allow him to help you do more than just read your bible and pray, allow him to also help you experience the fruit that comes with this relationship with him. Trust him entirely and know everything will be Okay, may God bless you and keep you, Amen!
