Distinguishing between good and evil with a sharpened mind and conscience for today’s world
When we are born, we are not able to properly distinguish between good and bad, evil and good, we only know some very basic things if not. We know that feeling hungry and pain is bad, and yet to remedy that we cry and get comforted or feed and that feels good. We do not yet know what sin is, yet we all eventually sin because of the nature of our hearts and how they stray away from God because of the sin that has entered in this world. When we are born, God still looks at us with love and as his children even though he knows that our hearts will one day turn from him for a while as the world starts to bombarde us with its culture and things. This is where we learn the evil and good things of the world and start to make distinctions for ourselves what they are and how they affect the life we live. This is where we learn if we are going to follow the world’s path and destruction or follow the path Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior has for us that will lead to bigger and better than the world can afford.
In today’s society with everything being disguised as something that is good and is needed as a basic human and bodily function and desire, such as sex, we have to be careful and watch out for our eyes and each other. We are told that obtaining wisdom is by fearing God himself and that if we do, we will live a prosperous life as we keep ourselves away from the sins that the world tries to entice us with. Sin always includes some kind of deception that we can either be blind to or follow out of pure lustful and sinful desire to do something and not obey God. Often times, this can lead us further and further away from God as we either keep doing it and don’t care about the consequences, or, we feel guilty and do not turn to God for help. Either path is very dangerous and can lead to disastrous consequences if not caught and repented of properly and in a timely manner. The first we sin, we don’t think much of it mostly thinking it’s not that big of deal, until it slowly becomes our lives and then we start seeing the issues and consequences it brings about.
The biggest and probably most energy draining one is lying about anything and everything. Jesus didn’t lie s single time to anyone as part of his life and mission here on earth, yet it seems like we lie to anyone when we can get the chance to cover ourselves, even him. We will lie to him even though he knows the truth, and yet then we wonder why we are drained of anything and everything. Once you start lying to get your way, then your life becomes a giant puppet show since now you have to devote mental and possibly physical energy and time to remember the random stories you keep telling people. Doing this can lead to many and many other sins and drag us deeper into a pit that we didn’t want to go down and yet we find ourselves in. One sin leads to another and before you know it, you would have committed so many sins, that you stay away from God because of the sins you have committed knowing that he the holy God and knows all.
Normally, all it takes is someone saying that what they are about to do is not that big of a deal and what people do not know cannot hurt them. It may not hurt them, but it may hurt you in one way or another that you may not yet know; sin isn’t supposed to be a scapegoat to satisfy ourselves, it’s a trap that we fall in to. One way the enemy traps us is making us think that God is too Holy and that he does not want us and that we do not deserve the relationship that he promises us because we messed up too much. But it’s just that, a lie, a lit to keep you in sin and the prevent you from seeing the moral good and love that this and world and God have. Breaking free of this is hard, but not impossible if you believe God can do it through the resurrection of Jesus. The only and one sin no one can be forgiven of is accounting the works of Jesus, God, and The Holy Spirit to the devil claiming it was the devil who did something that they did. Other than that, everything else is forgivable, so ask God for the forgiveness and walk in it knowing that he is with you.
Ask God to lead you down the path of righteousness and good in order to prevent and stand clear of the evil things in this world. Help him promote goodness and love to those who need it while spreading it to the world to defeat the evil form within itself to defeat the enemy. God will always be right there with you in order to guide you safely, you just have to listen to him and keep your mental sharpness high in order to maintain your wisdom. Doing this will ensure a life free from the sins the world has and ask God to help you make the proper distinctions if you are uncertain about the many situations that life will throw at you. May God keep you, bless, and protect you, Amen.
