Having and seeking an intimate relationship with God daily and what it’s like to have one with God.
Intimacy, something we desire as people, to have that connection with someone and know them on their deepest levels and their feelings. Depending on what kind of relationship you have with someone determines the level of intimacy you have with them. If it is your significant other, your level of intimacy will be extremely deep, sharing basically everything since you are to be one flesh with them. However, there is a relationship that is supposed to be, and is, at an even deeper level of intimacy and that is with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Jesus desires a level of intimacy to where we share everything and anything with him, from how we feel toward someone, something, to what we desire and need. He desires this with everyone and anyone no matter what you have done or who you are, we are to rely on him as a child would on their parents. His level of intimacy is desired to where we confide in him just like a trusted best friend and even to where we share way more to him than anyone.
To do this, we first have to realize that he is in no way confined to human constraints and logic with the ability to still understand and desire a closeness with him. We do this by having reverence for him knowing that he deserves our respect, love, and friendship that he has made us for. By do this by praising him for who he is and what he is able to do in our lives while also giving him glory. God invites everybody into this relationship and yet most deny it for numerous reasons and come up with excuses as to why they won’t accept his invitation. He uses the parable of a king putting on a wedding asking everyone and anyone to join him for it. A lot of people denied it for numerous reasons, showing how people can unproperly set priorities which prevent them from seeking God. As you accept this invitation to Heaven and ultimately the wedding, you will need to be properly dressed for such an occasion.
Having an intimate relationship with God and knowing his heart is where we learn to drop what our desires and follow him. As we because closer to him, his desires and concerns become our desires and concerns, we will see the homeless, fatherless, widows, and many more who cannot help themselves. Having this intimate relationship is us being properly dressed for his kingdom marriage with us as we go to stay with him eternally. Our relationship with him is what saves us, not our own terms, but his terms and relationship with us. This marriage will consist of feasting, joy, peace, and many more things and activities as we go into Heaven; it will not be the boring or dull life people think it is. This relationship also goes so deep that God wants to remove your doubts, fears, worries, and concerns about your future from you.
As we experience this intimate relationship with God, we see how he blesses us daily and we know we can run to him when we need help. Facing hardships and trials is not taken away from us but promised to us when we start following him and seeking his wisdom and love. The world will try to turn you back to it, that’s when we must go to God and ask for his strength, wisdom, and protection to fight for us. Following his ways and path will lead to a life of shunning and fighting evil, helping the helpless, and fighting for their justice as mentioned before, his concerns become your concerns. You will want to help them and show them that God does see them, this might just help them to seek a closer relationship with him as well. Facing hardships, although not easy, doesn’t mean God left you to your devices and that he doesn’t love you. He always right with you, and when you get through you will see the reason why as he shows you everything that was brought about from it.
In the end, seeking intimacy with God is knowing his wisdom, love, grace, and forgiveness for us and others. It is putting our desires and priorities behind us and focusing on his priorities in our lives and doing what he desires us to do. There may be something that you have dreamed about doing for your whole life, and God sees that. His desire for you right now might be to prepare you for what he has for you, give God the glory he deserves and hand over everything to him. He might use your dreams for something even better and bless it more than you could ever think of; for it is written “No ears have heard, nor eyes have seen what The Lord, your God, has planned for you”. Trust him and be intimate with him, more than intimate than anyone, and watch as he changes things around. And know everything will be Okay, Amen!!!!
